Leaving Lloyd Jones Weir we refuelled in Barcaldine before heading to Longreach. Listening to the ABC we learned that Longreach was celebrating its 125 year anniversary. As a consequence it was quite busy. We walked around in the Business Centre and had a sausage roll at the Merino Bakery with a nice mugochino. At the information centre we checked out the river cruises. No luck – they were fully booked, no doubt because of the celebrations.

We did a bit of shopping at Foodworks and bought Y-bone steaks and lamb chops at the Mitchell Grass Meats Butcher. Very tasty meat, If you check out their website, have a look at their recipes. There is one for bacon and liver for breakfast lunch or dinner. If Lesley decides to cook that – I’ll go for a long walk. I can’t stand the smell of it.

We camped at the Thompson river rest area. Probably the worst overnight stop we had. Very dusty. No shade. Even the Thompson river is not that interesting at that site.

Going for a walk in the evening I managed to get some photos I like.

For dinner we had the steaks cooked in the Webber Baby-Q. Delicious.
