Some sad news in Quilpie, just before we arrived. From the ABC website: ‘Defence personnel have marched through the south-west Queensland town of Quilpie to honour a fallen colleague. A hometown memorial service has been held for 40-year-old Lance-Corporal ‘Rick’ Milosevic, who was among five Australian soldiers who died in Afghanistan last month.’
My first reaction was, how sad for such a small community. On second thought, in this small community there may be more support from the people. In the country ties are much closer. Whichever way you look at it a soldier dying is always a tragedy for the people left behind.
