To Chaffey Dam

We are now heading back toward Tamworth, so that we can pick up the awning on Thursday. We had heard good things about Chaffey Dam and decided to head there, despite an unusually long drive. We travelled mostly along back roads and the roads led through hilly country. Some of the hills were so steep, I changed down gears to first and second. But the hilly countryside also made for enjoyable scenery.

There were lots of road works, many of them letting traffic through in one way only. This made for lengthy delays. The longest delay was actually not for road works but for electricity line maintenance. They were replacing old wiring with new ones and we had to wait until the wires were cleared off the road.

Chaffey Dam was not a disappointment. In hilly country this dam is in a very peaceful setting. We managed to get a very good spot. This spot needs to be vacated on Thursday due to a water skiing marathon being held on the weekend. No problem for us, as we plan to leave on Thursday anyway to pick up our awning.
