To Malcolm Dam, at Malcolm Dam

Wednesday, 19th to Friday 21st of June, 2013

We decided to pump up the tyres as we knew we would be on bitumen for most of the day’s drive. Despite the higher pressure, the drive on the dirt roads was fairly comfortable. Good dirt road. We stopped at Laverton where we had good internet connection.

Lesley went off in search of the cache together with most of the group while I stayed in the caravan. We were parked outside the hotel, the first two story building we had seen for a while.

We refuelled at the fuel depot, considerably cheaper than at the service station.

We continued on to Malcolm Dam. A great spot to rest for a while right near the water. We actually camped on the dam area, although it looked like it had been dry for a while.

Bird life on the dam is prolific and I enjoyed watching the birds, especially close to sunset. This little one let me get quite close.

There were pelicans

and black swans.

The sunsets were again quite special.

And the light

Here the light is on a flowering bush with the moon rising behind it.
