On our first drive into Broome, we decided to have a look at Cable Beach to see if it lived up to its fame. It certainly is a beautiful stretch of coastline but has a very commercial feel to it with all the up market resorts. There is a nice looking restaurant overlooking the beach but, for once, we did not indulge ourselves.
These are a couple of my photos.
This reminded us of the beaches on the Mediterranean in the south of France (albeit less crowded) with the rows of beach umbrellas.
For some more spectacular evening photos, go to Erich’s Red Dirt Photographic Tour blog post.
After leaving Cable Beach, we headed south to Gantheaume Point which can be seen in the centre distance in the above photo. The coastline here is completely different but stunning.
I don’t know why Erich took a photo of this grumpy looking woman!
I, on the other hand, took these photos of the area.
Looking back towards Cable Beach.
Dinosaur footprint casts
No idea what this old chimney belonged to.
We continued our drive along the coast to the Port Road and then back into town.
