23rd July, 2015.
We got off to a reasonably early start from Kununurra heading towards Katherine, approximately 500kms to the north east. Our plan was to travel about half way and camp overnight at Sullivan Campground in the Gregory National Park.
We stopped in Timber Creek for what turned out to be a late lunch as we lost 90 minutes changing time zones between Western Australia and the Northern Territory. It was quite busy with travelers heading in both directions.
As we neared our evening camp, we came to the Victoria River crossing and turned down a side road to the boat ramp to have a closer look at the river. It was quite pretty and there were a couple of fishing boats on the water.
We stopped to photograph this breakaway as we drove back to the main road.
The camping area was fairly small allowing for about 10 vehicles and we managed to find a spot out of the drive around area.
It was just a short walk to the river but not really very interesting.
Next morning we pushed on to Katherine where we had arranged to have our mail forwarded. After collecting our mail, fuelling up and picking up a couple of groceries, we headed south to our planned camp at Jalmurark Campground in the Elsey National Park, east of Mataranka.
