From Lake Liddell we followed the highway to Singleton – not a great drive with many trucks, two lanes changing to single lanes and in parts some deep ruts in the road from heavy vehicles. I was glad to get off it. We had to cross an other mountain range between Gresford and Dungog. Fantastic scenery – the best scenery we had seen in our trip. I wouldn’t have thought that so soon after our trip to Lake Liddell that I raved about the best scenery, this was surpassed by this road. This time Lesley was ready to take photos. We stopped at Dungog intending to use the dump point at the show grounds. Once again the GPS was not very helpful and a stop at the Information Centre yielded a map and explanations how to find it.
What a lovely place. I enjoyed walking down the street and looking at the old buildings. Nice country town atmosphere. Cars stop at pedestrian crossings already if they think you might like to cross.
The strangest building in town by far is the Picture Theatre – it features a Spanish Façade! Apparently it is the oldest still operating purpose-built cinema in Australia.
Soon enough we arrived at the Barrington Reserve [CAW6 NSW #343] near Gloucester, booked in at the Barrington General Store and set up for the night.

The ditch over the creek isn’t that bad as you might expect after reading the description in CAW6.
While there isn’t much of a view from the camp site, a short walk brings you into the open with great views. Following some shots I took on a 15 minute walk.

Dear Lesley and Erich, I’m on the train to Brisbane (U3A) looking at the wonderful places you’re visiting. Speaking of holidays, we’re off in September . If I told you November, I must have had a senior’s moment. We’d like to catch up with you.

I do hope one day you will go to South Gippsland [Victoria] and go to Poowong !!! some gorgeous scenery around those areas, love to you both.
We would have stayed longer in Victoria if I did not have the appointment in Port Macquarie. We might have made it to Poowong.Perhaps on an other trip.
